LOVE LETTERS FOR STARSHIP!

Room 18 and Room 10 have been working together to create gorgeous Love Letters to be sent up to Starship Hospital to brighten up the walls of sick children.  This is part of our inquiry into Kind Hearts.  Check out some of our beautiful creations.  Please remember if you have any good condition used clothing or non-perishable food items that you are willing to donate, please bring them to Room 18.

Haiku Poetry

This term we have been learning different types of poetry.  So far we have learnt about a cinquain, a shape poem, a senses poem, haiku poem and an acrostic poem.  We have enjoyed doing poetry because everyone is able to do it! Check out our gorgeous published haiku poems below.

A Haiku poem is a poem that originates from Japan. It is usually about a season or nature.  The first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables and the third line has 5 syllables.

Random Acts of Kindess

This term our inquiry is around Random Acts of Kindness.  Our teachers have set us a goal to see how many hearts we can add to this tree to make it bloom.  On Tuesday Leigh from the Kind Hearts movement Palmerston North will be coming to speak to us about the project.  Today we started to compile a list of a few random acts of kindness we could do at school, at home and in the community - we are excited to see where this will lead us.  Watch this space to see our tree bloom.

RIGHT CHOICE DAY

We had heaps of fun during our Right Choice Day for Term 3.  We had a 'Black Out Day' to support the All Blacks.  Some of the the games we played were pin the rugby ball on Richie McCaw, kicking the ball between the goal posts, weetbix eating competition, a rugby quiz and we posted a facebook message to Richie McCaw wishing him best of luck.  We also celebrated with a delicious shared lunch.  Our teachers are really proud of the hard work we have put into our learning this term.  Oh yeah and did we mention...RICHIE MCCAW WROTE BACK TO US!!!

A few updates

Congratulations to Jade, Shirley, Gus and Blake who all received a prize for netball and rugby prize giving.  We are proud to have such amazing role models in our class who try their hardest and get involved in sporting activities outside the classroom - well done!

On Friday we had the last school disco for the year.  Everyone looked beautiful all dressed up and had an awesome time dancing the night away!  We sure do have some movers and groovers in the class!

Our class was selected to be a part of the Feilding Schools Cultural festival where we got to perform a the Civic Centre in front of hundreds of people.  Our performance was based on the centenary of Anzac Day.  We were part of learning the folk dancing and battle scenes.
