At 9 am this morning Room 18 went to the star lab. We lined up and listened to the Manawatu people and then we walked sensibly in the star lab.

We lay down on the pillows and got comfy and then looked at the roof.  We waited for the movie to start. The movie started and I got really excited and then I got really dizzy.  I felt like I was an alien but I wasn't.  In the start and the middle I was laughing because it was funny.  It was dark in the star lab.

It was time to go back to class so we said thank you and bye. I enjoyed the star lab.

Mothers Day

Check out our beautiful word clouds we have made for our mothers using descriptive language.  We used the website Tagxedo to make these beautiful pictures.  We are looking forward to giving them to our Mums on Sunday with the cards we have made.

We have been very lucky this year to have Ronald McDonald come to visit us and teach us about road safety.  He was hilarious but most importantly we learned how to cross the road safely and that we need to watch out for 'sneaky driveways'!

We also had The Real Art Show come to visit North St School!  This visit inspired us to become artists and we just couldn't stop drawing!  We saw so many amazing pieces of art and we discovered that different pieces of art make us feel differently.  Keep an eye out on our blog throughout they year to see what our 'budding artists' create!

Daily 5

Just a few shots of our Daily 5 in action during Literacy.

Zero Waste

Over the last two weeks we have been learning about Zero Waste. We have looked at different ways we can reuse items that would otherwise be in the landfills. We created desktop organisers out of bits and bobs that we found around our homes. We made robots, rabbits, Sponge Bob and snowmen! Here is a list of just a few of the items we used:
-buttons
-wallpaper
 -scrap paper
-milk bottle lids
-fabric
-scrap paper
-cardboard from cereal boxes

 Check out our creations below
