On Saturday the 20th of June there was a big flood.

Nikita stayed at my house. When we woke up we were playing in my bedroom.  We went outside there was lots of water on the road. We went in the car to look at the ourua river. And we went to the creek it was getting higher and higher I was scared because I thought it might go in my house.

"Why is the river going higher and higher?" I asked Mum.

"Because there has been lots of rain for a couple of days jade girl," Mum said.
